Santa Cruz de Tenerife tramway service improves efficiency

The intervals between trams shall be less than five minutes.

Metrotenerife, the transport company of the Insular Council of Tenerife, will adapt its 2023 Service Plan in view of the foreseeable increase in user demand due to the application of free travel for frequent season tickets on public transport.

In this sense, the tramway will reinforce the service starting 16 January, improving frequencies during the working week, specifically in the morning and peak hours.

In accordance with this measure, Line 1 will now provide a service with frequencies of less than five minutes to reinforce the peak hours of greatest demand, which tend to be between 07.00 and 10.00 in the morning and from 12.00 to 15.00 midday. During these same periods, Line 2 will have nine-minute frequencies.

Metrotenerife reminds passengers that the 100% discount on public transport will only apply to customers who use public transport frequently and who are holders of the Canarian Resident travel card or the monthly Youth, Senior or Disability travel cards.

In this sense, and in order to obtain the free pass when purchasing a new ticket, users must have made at least 15 journeys in the previous 30 days, a condition that qualifies them as frequent users of public transport.
