The finest honey in the Canary Islands reaffirms its position

The Insular Council of Tenerife hosted the XXVI Regional Honey Awards where it bestowed the corresponding recognitions.

The Insular Council of Tenerife held recently the XXVI Regional Honey Awards, in the category “Grand Golden Honeycomb Cell” with denomination of protected origin went to the beekeeper Pedro Braulio Ledesma, of the Rika brand, for a Teide broom honey, considered to be the best honey in the Canary Islands.


In the category without denomination of protected origin, the “Grand Golden Honeycomb Cell” prize went to Jonás Díaz González from La Palma, of the Hoya del Brezal brand, for a tedera honey, while the prize for best presentation went to the Tenerife beekeeper Juan Jesús Ramos Fariña, of the Oromiel brand.

The Golden awards also went to Alejandro Delgado Afonso from Tenerife, of the Miel Ucanca brand, for a single-flower pennyroyal honey; Antonio Luis Díaz Santos from La Gomera, of the Villa Clara brand, for a single-flower honey; and José Manuel Cabrera Hernández from Tenerife, of the El Productor brand, for a chestnut honey.

A total of 60 samples of honey were presented on this occasion, 40 from Tenerife, 13 from La Palma, 4 from Gran Canaria, 4 from La Gomera and 3 from El Hierro.
