The Town of Los Realejos has set up a free taxi service from 23 December 2022 until 5 January 2023, to promote public transit between the commercial areas of the town during the Christmas campaign.
According to a statement by the town’s mayor, Adolfo González, this is the seventh year in a row that this initiative has been promoted, which fulfils several objectives, including free transport, the promotion of shared use, support for the taxi sector, the creation of synergies and the creation of an atmosphere and incentive for consumption in the commercial sector of the town.
As was announced, there will be established various points for pickup and waiting and customers will not only be able to get into these shared taxis, but they will also be able to ride in these taxis when they see them on the established routes.
Thus, journeys between La Cruz Santa, Realejo Alto, San Agustín, Icod el Alto and Toscal Longuera will be fare-free, and the taxis will operate during business hours on two lines: line 1, in green, will cover journeys between Icod el Alto and Realejo Alto, and line 2, in purple, will operate as a circuit between La Cruz Santa, Realejo Alto, San Agustín and Toscal Longuera.
