Tenerife, among the most popular destinations to celebrate the year 2023

A major travel search engine, Jetcost, shares information on the most searched destinations both domestically and internationally.

Spain tops the list provided by Jetcost for destinations most searched for by Europeans to start the year 2023, leaving behind Italy, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom.

More specifically, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Madrid and Tenerife are among the most popular choices for both national and international travellers.

Searches for flights during the last night of the year have increased by 230% in the last few weeks, while those for hotels have increased by 180% for the end of the year compared to the previous one, according to the search engine.

Additionally, users spend 70% more time looking for different solutions, budgets and alternative dates, to find the offer that best suits their budgets.

Among the reasons given for choosing Spain to enjoy the last holidays of the year are its climate, rich culture, customs and festivals. Travellers also highlight its gastronomy, flights, hotels and infrastructures, as well as the most affordable prices.

The data, which analyses the results of flight searches between 27 December 2022 and 4 January 2023, shows that in the vast majority of cases the travellers opt for destinations with favourable weather conditions.

In this sense, it is not surprising that the Canary Islands are once again the Spain’s region most sought after by Europeans to celebrate the year 2023. Thus, Tenerife is the second most sought after by British, French and Italian travellers, third by the Dutch and fourth by the Germans and Portuguese. Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote also rank among the preferences of European holidaymakers.
