The Candelaria University Hospital (Tenerife) is the best healthcare centre in 2022 in the Canary Islands, according to the latest Hospital Excellence Index (IEH) published by the Institute for Governance and Applied Economics Coordinates.

The IEH annually analyses the hospital excellence of Spanish hospitals, both public and private, which are most committed to the quality and sustainability of a universal healthcare system, based on parameters such as quality of care, hospital service, patient well-being and satisfaction, as well as innovative capacity, personalised care and efficiency in the use of resources by patients. For its preparation, 2,100 surveys were carried out among health professionals in Spain from different hospitals.

Other Canary Islands healthcare centres highlighted by this index at a regional level are the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, the Hospital Quirónsalud de Tenerife, the Hospital Universitario de Canarias and the Hospitales Universitarios San Roque.

It is to be noted that it changes the position held by the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín as it was recognized as the best centre last year. This time it is in the second place. Hospital Quirónsalud Tenerife moved up one position to third place and Hospital Universitario de Canarias drops to the fourth position.
