Santa Cruz de Tenerife holds the Grand Carnival Parade this Tuesday

The Town Hall will install a total of 7,500 seats for the public along the route and expects the arrival of more than 270 buses with visitors from the north and south of the island.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival will experience one of its most traditional and popular events today, Tuesday, with the celebration of the Coso Apoteosis also known as the Grand Carnival Parade in the avenues Francisco La Roche and Marítima from 16.00 hours.


This multicoloured parade brings together all the festive groups (comparsas, rondallas, murgas, musical and choreographic groups), as well as the Carnival Queens, costume groups, floats and decorated cars. The Canarian Television will broadcast the show live, starting at 16.00 hours.

The Town Hall of the capital of Tenerife will install a total of 7,500 chairs for the public along the route, in addition to the grandstand set up in the vicinity of the Cabildo Insular, with a capacity for more than a thousand people.

The Coso Apoteosis is one of the events that attracts most visitors to the city at this time of year, mainly from the tourist areas in the south and north of the island. Forecasts put the number of buses with excursionists arriving in the city from midday tomorrow, Tuesday 21st, at more than 270.

The festive agenda for Shrove Tuesday will open at 11.00 a.m. with the traditional concerts on this date in the Plaza del Príncipe. At the same time, the Afilarmónica Ni Fu Ni Fa, the leading “murga” group, will give a recital, while at 12 noon, the Agrupación Lírico Musical Los Fregolinos will perform.
