The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife kicks off the month of March with an announcement that there are 45 cruise ship visits scheduled during this month. On this occasion, there will again be days where more than one cruise ship will be present at the port at the same time.
Specifically, there will be seven days in which three ships will coincide at the dock of Santa Cruz, with Thursday, 23 March, being a highlight as four ships IONA, AIDA Aura, Mein Schiff Herz and Azamara Onward will be received by the capital of Tenerife.
The Azamara Onward, previously known as Pacific Princess, will first arrive on 16 March, which will be its first port stop following its renaming, and will repeat the visit on 23 March. On the other hand, five ships, specifically AidaNova, Mein Schiff Herz, Azura, La Belle des Oceans and Marella Explorer, continue to call Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife their home port, which means that they start and finish each of their voyages through the Atlantic in the port of the capital of Tenerife.
According to the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, between January and December 2022 the port of the capital registered the visit of 542,290 tourists (353,000 more than in 2021) who arrived in cruise ships that consider the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife their home port.
Currently, there are around 573 stopovers planned for this year in the ports dependent on the Port Authority, with the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife having the most stopovers scheduled as a total reaches 313.
Excellence Cruise Awards
The Excellence Cruise Awards, a reference in the international cruise industry, will come to Tenerife next Monday, 6 March, with a great award gala to be held in the Auditorium of Tenerife sponsored by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in collaboration with other public and private organisations such as State Ports.
The winners of the Excellence Cruise Awards are chosen by cruise passengers and travel agencies through online voting, and they reward from the best ships, to the best gastronomy, the best itinerary, or even the best entertainment on board, up to a total of 16 categories.
The ceremony will bring together the main cruise line executives, shipping agents, cruise tour operators, ports and destinations, travel agents, press, collaborators, professionals and entrepreneurs from Tenerife and other suppliers to the sector, who will enjoy a unique gala in the Tenerife Auditorium followed by a cocktail-dinner.
This will be the sixteenth presentation of the aforementioned awards organised by Cruises News Media Group, which have previously been held in cities such as Barcelona, Palma, Malaga, Cartagena, A Coruña and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
