The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated several warnings in the Canary Islands due to the strong gusts of wind and coastal phenomena expected during Easter Week. These warnings will mainly affect the coastal and mountainous areas of several islands.
According to AEMET forecasts, wind gusts could reach up to 70 km/h in the affected areas. The yellow warning for high wind gusts will mainly affect the east, south and west of Gran Canaria, La Gomera, the metropolitan area of Tenerife, El Hierro, Cumbres de Gran Canaria and the north and east of Tenerife.
In addition, a yellow warning has been activated for coastal phenomena in the same areas, due to the north to northeast wind which will blow with force 7 and strong gusts.
Extreme caution is recommended in the areas affected by these warnings in the Canary Islands, especially in coastal and mountainous areas, as well as following the instructions of the local authorities. Weather conditions are expected to improve beginning on Wednesday.
