Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY will fly to the Canary Islands

Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY has announced that starting from 20 December 2023 through 10 April 2024, it will operate direct flights to the capital of Iceland, Reykjavík.

The Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY will link the island of Fuerteventura with the country’s capital, Reykjavik, from 20 December 2023 until 10 April 2024. This has been anounced by the ‘low cost’ in a statement in which it adds that it will be the only airline to offer direct flights between the two destinations. The Fuerteventura-Reykjavik flights for winter 2024 can be booked on flyplay.com from Thursday 4 May.


PLAY currently flies from Barcelona, Madrid, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca to Reykjavik. Also, for the winter season 2024, it will increase its capacity on the routes to Tenerife and Alicante.

PLAY CEO Birgir Jonsson explained that “in the first quarter of 2023 we have increased our ASK’s (Available Seat Kilometres) by 229% compared to the same period in 2022 and we expect to continue to build on this base in the coming years”.

“As part of the long-term investment in building a route network, we are introducing several new enhancements in the 2023-2024 winter season, such as this new Fuerteventura-Reykjavik route,” he concluded.
