HiperDino has been recognised as the best company in the Canary Islands for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, as part of the 8th edition of the Canary Islands Excellence in Human Resources Awards 2023.
The president of the DinoSol Foundation, Davinia Domínguez, and its director, Virginia Ávila, came to collect this award for being the entity through which HiperDino channels all its actions aimed at improving the quality of life of its workers and Canary Islands society in general.
At one point during the ceremony, the president, Davinia Domínguez, stated that “long before CSR became an innovative concept, my father and uncle were already putting it into practice almost unknowingly and voluntarily; and with the birth of HiperDino in 1985, the commitment to the welfare and improvement of its workers and Canarian society was also born”.
Since 2017, the DinoSol Foundation has been actively working to support HiperDino’s workers, in the development of its own projects, in solidarity actions and in collaborations with other entities.
One of its own projects that has earned it this recognition is Alimentos conVida, to reduce food losses and waste in the chain’s establishments and, at the same time, to encourage products that are not marketable but suitable for consumption to reach the social canteens of the archipelago.
In 2022 alone, 471,247 kg of food were saved from being thrown away, which were donated to 30 social organisations throughout the Canary Islands, benefiting 12,049 people every day.
Another of the initiatives most highly valued by the jury of these awards was Tienda Accesible, a project that allows its establishments to be adapted for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), favouring their real inclusion in everyday tasks such as shopping.
