Today, Thursday, the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in collaboration with the Centro-Ifara district, kicks off the seventh edition of the Lavaderos Live Music series. The inaugural concert will take place at 8:00 PM in the central patio of the Sala de Arte Los Lavaderos, located behind the Hotel Mencey in the capital. La Cangreja, a fusion and singer-songwriter project led by the talented young artist from Gran Canaria, Elena Santana, will be performing.
Alfonso Cabello, the councilman in charge of the district, highlights the significance of this initiative, now in its seventh year, in ensuring that there are plenty of cultural events happening in the city during the summer. The series aims to enrich the cultural offerings of the capital and is produced by Makaron, directed by musician and journalist Rubén Díaz. The lineup for this year includes performances by A Togo Jazx (13th), featuring German guitarist and singer Franzi Ruf; Go Back Timple Fusion (20th), showcasing the instrumental audacity of Eduardo del Rosario; and emerging voices Estrella Marina and singer-songwriter Miguel Rojas (27th), completing the July lineup.
In August, the concerts will continue with the lively freshness of Victor y la Nube (3rd), the multimedia performance Vuelo 4.32: La emigración del alma by Italian artist Federica Farace (10th), the experimental project Bolero Meet Jazz by Jordi Arocha and Luis Ramírez (17th), the Latin American repertoire of Cristal Acústico (24th), and Rumores de Milonga, a review of popular songs from Argentina and Uruguay, which will conclude the cycle on the 31st.
The concerts have limited capacity and free admission, and they are supported by the Organismo Autónomo de Cultura, as well as the commercial firms Dorada Especial and Aguaria.
La Cangreja is Elena Santana’s personal project, where she showcases her own compositions and lyrics. Since the age of 14, she has been singing and playing her songs along the coasts of the Canary Islands. Santana moved to Tenerife in 2017, embarking on her musical career. With a dynamic and energetic live performance, her band, which includes José Julián Maillard on guitar, Agustín P. Buenafuente on bass, and Ksenia Pavluchenkova on keyboards, promises an unforgettable experience.
