Tenerife South Airport to undergo a major overhaul valued at 300 million euros

Two companies bid for the design of the remodelling of Tenerife Sur Airport, valued at more than 300 million euros

Aena has evaluated the technical and architectural proposals for the complete remodelling of Tenerife Sur Airport and has now opened the financial bids of the companies that passed the evaluation. The joint ventures PROINTEC/EFEBEARQUITECTURA and WSP SPAIN-APIA have been selected, with financial proposals of 3,946,130 euros and 4,195,018 euros, respectively. Three other companies have been discarded.

The award of the project will be subject to approval by Aena’s Board of Directors at its meeting in July. The project involves two main aspects: the drafting of the plan to completely remodel the terminal area of the airport and the provision of architectural advice during the execution of the work.

According to Aena, these files are part of an “ambitious” integral remodelling project that will be included in the DORA III proposal. The initial estimated investment for the project exceeds 300 million euros.

The project aims to integrate the entire terminal area of the airport, both architecturally and in terms of its surroundings. Planned improvements, subject to the final project’s drafting, include the creation of new car parks and access points, the revision of urban development and landscaping, the adaptation of the baggage reclaim hall, the expansion of check-in and boarding areas, and the addition of more commercial services.

Aena emphasizes its significant investment effort to establish this airport as a leading international benchmark, offering modern and well-designed infrastructure that aligns with the surrounding area. The focus is on delivering quality, innovation, and sustainability.

During the first DORA 2017-2022 period, Tenerife South Airport received a total investment of 159.4 million euros.
