The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is among the top five Spanish universities to study tourism and among the top 100 worldwide, according to the ‘QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023’ carried out by the British Higher Education consultancy Quacquarelly Symonds.
The ‘QS World University Rankings’ has analysed a total of 1,594 institutions in 2023 to rank the best universities in 54 disciplines grouped into five branches of knowledge: Arts and Humanities, Life Sciences and Medicine, Social Sciences and Management, Natural Sciences, and Engineering and Technology.
Specifically, in the ranking of the best institutions to study tourism and hospitality, a total of 162 universities have been included and among them are only 5 Spanish universities, in order of position: Escuela Universitaria de Hostelería y Turismo de Sant Pol de Mar, the ULPGC, the Ramón Llul University, the University of Barcelona and the University of Alicante.
The criteria used by this British consultancy firm to draw up the ranking of universities, specifically in the hospitality and tourism discipline, are based on the following indicators: academic reputation, reputation among employers, citations in research articles and the H Index, which measures the productivity and impact of their research for society.
Currently, the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the ULPGC offers the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote; the Double Degrees in Business Administration and Management and Tourism; Translation and Interpreting (English and German) and Tourism, according to a note from the ULPGC.
