In Spain, there are over 1,000 speed camera radar installed on all roads. Surprisingly, 30% of the fines issued come from just 50 of these speed cameras. Recently, the association for the defence of drivers, European Associated Motorists (AEA), made public a list analyzing each speed camera that has registered the highest number of fines, including cross-referencing the data with previous years. While some changes have occurred in the Canary Islands, one speed camera in Gran Canaria remains the top fine generator for the region over the last three years.
THE RADAR THAT FINES THE MOST IN THE CANARY ISLANDS IS IN GRAN CANARIA
Located at kilometer point 42.2 of the GC-1, the DGT radar in Gran Canaria has registered a staggering 33,389 fines, making it the most prolific speed camera in the Canary Islands. The second-highest number of fines on the islands belongs to a speed camera on the island of Tenerife.
In previous years, the speed camera with the highest number of fines on Tenerife was situated near Tenerife Sur airport, on the TF-1 motorway. However, in this edition, the top-performing DGT speed camera on the island is now located on the TF-13 road, known as Vía de Ronda, at kilometer point 0.5.
