Rural tourism in the province of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria surpasses 60% for August

According to EscapadaRural, bookings for rural tourism accommodation in the province of Las Palmas exceed 60 percent for the month of August.

In Spain, rural tourism bookings are reaching close to or even exceeding 75% occupancy in some autonomous communities and provinces during the month of August, particularly from the 11th to the 20th.


The rural accommodation portal also emphasizes that this type of tourism will once again be a preferred option for many people to unwind and enjoy a few days of relaxation during the summer. On average, rural accommodations are experiencing a 60% occupancy rate in the eighth month of the year.

Leading the way in terms of rural occupancy for August are Asturias, Murcia, Navarre, Cantabria, the Balearic Islands, and Catalonia, all of which are enjoying occupancy rates exceeding 60%.

Additionally, four other autonomous communities have rural accommodation occupancy rates exceeding 50%: Andalusia, Galicia, the Basque Country, Aragon, and the Valencian Community.

By provinces, fourteen have already surpassed a 60% occupancy rate in rural tourism for August, with standout regions such as Asturias, Malaga, Cadiz, Barcelona, and Las Palmas. Thirteen other provinces are exceeding 50% occupancy, with Seville, Alicante, Girona, Lleida, and Almeria leading the pack.

According to Judith Monmany, head of communications at EscapadaRural.com, “while international travel and beach destinations have regained prominence this year, rural tourism remains a preferred option for many Spaniards who value the benefits of proximity, authenticity, tranquillity, and connection with nature in their holiday destinations.”
