The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has provided an updated weather forecast for the Canary Islands for the upcoming day. The forecast suggests a slight to moderate decrease in temperatures, although local points in the southern interior of Gran Canaria may still reach up to 34ºC.
Skies are expected to be clear, with intervals of clouds in the north of Lanzarote, as well as on the coasts and midlands of the more elevated islands during the first half of the day and in the late hours. A slight haze at high altitudes, particularly affecting the eastern islands, is anticipated.
The prevailing wind will be from the northeast, with strong intervals on the southeast and northwest slopes. There is a low probability of occasional very strong gusts in the early morning. On the summits, the wind will be light and will shift to the west, except on the summits of Tenerife, where a moderate west wind with intervals of strong is anticipated.
At sea, the wind will be north or northeasterly, force 5 or 6, increasing to 7 offshore on the west and southeast coasts. A strong swell that could locally escalate to heavy offshore is expected on the west and southeast coasts. The north, north or northeast coast will experience a 3 or 4 wind with swell or heavy swell, while the south and southwest coast will see variable 1 to 3 breezes along with swell.
