Suertes del Marqués, from Tenerife, among the 100 best wineries in the world 2023

For the fourth occasion in five years, the British publication Wine&Spirits acknowledges the efforts of Suertes del Marqués.

Jonatan García Lima’s Suertes del Marqués Winery, situated in La Orotava, has once again received recognition from the esteemed American publication Wine&Spirits. This marks the third consecutive year and the fourth time in the last five years that the winery has been included in the prestigious list of the 100 Best Wineries in the World for 2023. This accomplishment mirrors their previous successes in 2019, 2021, and 2022.


Wine&Spirits, a publication with a rich history spanning over 35 years and specializing in the wine sector, assembles its roster of the finest 100 wineries based on the exceptional quality of the wines, assessed through a rigorous double-blind tasting procedure.

At the pinnacle of the list are Vega Sicilia, Muga, and López Heredia

This year, a total of 7 Spanish wineries have been chosen to grace the list. Alongside Suertes del Marqués, there are 6 other nationally acclaimed wineries: Vega Sicilia, Muga, López de Heredia, Pago de los Abuelos, Can Sumoi, and Raventós i Blanc. Hailing from various corners of the world, historic wineries such as Bollinger, Billecart Salmon, Zuccardi, Catena Zapata, Fritz Haag, Ornellaia, Biondi-Santi, Vajra Royal Tokaji, and Penfolds complete this prestigious selection. It is worth noting that Suertes del Marqués was previously honored with the distinction for Best Work in Wines at the XXXI DIARIO DE AVISOS Gastronomy Awards, an accolade bestowed in 2016.

Suertes del Marqués wines, present in more than 40 countries

These wines have garnered a presence in more than 40 countries. Presently, the winery, which falls under the Denomination of Origin Valle de La Orotava, stands as the primary exporter of wines from the Canary Islands. Its products are available in over 40 countries, represented by 70 importers. Impressively, Suertes del Marqués is the sole Canary Islands winery to secure a place on this esteemed ranking throughout the two decades of its existence.
