Delayed flight to Tenerife led to love and marriage: Lisa and Jamie’s heartwarming story

Just like a Netflix romance, the couple continued meeting every evening on Tenerife Island.

Lisa Skellon and Jamie Hobbs, both 56, crossed paths shortly after their flight from Bournemouth in the UK to Tenerife faced a delay. Like other passengers, they were required to disembark the plane and return to the terminal.

In the airport terminal, their groups of friends, who were also traveling to the island, coincidentally converged. An instant connection formed from the very beginning: “We sat down to have our drinks and kept looking at each other,” Lisa admits.

Delayed flight to Tenerife led to love and marriage: Lisa and Jamie's heartwarming story.

This heartwarming story, which unfolded in November 2019, progressed further when they re-boarded the plane, as they shared with The Sun. Jamie found an opportunity to strike up a conversation again when the line for the restroom matched up with Lisa’s seat: “I mustered the courage and gave her my business card, but her friend shouted at me, ‘She’s written her number on a Tui bag.'”

Continuing their narrative like a plot from a romantic Netflix movie, the couple continued meeting each evening on the island. And since their connection felt genuine, they decided to carry on with their relationship upon returning home.

MEETING IN TENERIFE, WEDDING IN CYPRUS

“I was furious when my flight was delayed, but I met the man of my dreams, and now we’re getting married,” Lisa shared with the magazine. “We’re very grateful for the delay, for once in our lives, because we probably wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for that,” she adds. The wedding is scheduled to take place next month in Paphos, Cyprus.
