The events, which run from 16th to 22nd September, centre around Car Free Day and aim to encourage sustainable transportation, the use of public transport, and reclaiming spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.

This year’s theme is “Combine and Move,” promoting the advantages of opting for eco-friendly modes of travel.

Saturday, 16th September, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

One of the headline events will be an exhibition of 50 zero-emission electric vehicles, presented by the Spanish Ecological Automobile Association. This showcase will be held on the Fred. Olsen esplanade along Avenida Marítima and is open from 10:00 to 20:00.

From 10:00 to 14:00, stalls will disseminate information about the Low Emission Zone (ZBE), regulated parking areas, road safety concerns, air pollution impact, and the importance of sustainable mobility. Concurrently, an activity known as “Bati-bici,” coordinated by Ekooke Proyectos, will feature a game and discussion centred on sustainable mobility.

The Tenerife por la Bici association will also run a bicycle workshop designed for both novice and experienced riders. This will take place next to La Gesta Park, on Paseo Francisco Grande Giraud. Public transport companies Titsa and Metropolitano de Tenerife will host information stands.

19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd September

On the 19th, there will be a webinar for City Council staff alongside the Titsa Open Days. The 20th will see an open day at Metropolitano de Tenerife. On the 21st, visitors can gain insights into the workings of the Traffic Control Room.

European Mobility Week concludes on the 22nd with Car Free Day. To mark this, a social media contest, “Me, by Public Transport,” will be launched.
