Closure of 2 beaches in El Médano due to pollution

Today, samples were collected at the municipal beaches for further analysis by El Médano's local service.

On Wednesday, September 27th, the Granadilla de Abona Town Council made the decision to temporarily close El Médano Beach (central area) and Leocadio Machado Beach due to the detection of an indicator exceeding the maximum allowable level in water quality analysis. As a precautionary measure, a red flag has been raised, indicating the temporary prohibition of bathing.

The Town Council emphasizes that only the central beach and Leocadio Machado Beach have exceeded the permitted bathing levels. It’s important to note that previous water quality samples taken in recent days indicated good conditions. However, the latest results received today have shown that the Enterococci parameter has exceeded the allowable limit.
