The charming village of Tejina is gearing up for another exciting edition of the Gastronomic Route of the Goat, scheduled to take place from the 13th to the 29th of this month. Within Tejina, six local establishments will come alive with the aromas and flavours of traditional recipes showcasing goat meat as the star ingredient.
This delightful culinary event is proudly presented by the City Council of La Laguna, under the purview of the Primary Sector, Tourism, and Trade Department. It is made possible through collaboration with the Market of Products of the Primary Sector of the Northeast and the Festivities Commission of San Bartolomé de Tejina 2023.
Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez emphasized the primary goal of this gastronomic route, which is to celebrate and promote the intrinsic value of local cuisine. It also aims to foster stronger ties between the livestock sector, local commerce, and restaurants, while encouraging the consumption of goat products.
Leticia Villegas, the councillor responsible for the event, elaborated that those who indulge in the various delectable tapas on offer will have the opportunity to cast their votes via the route’s Facebook channel (https://www.facebook.com/rutadelacabra/). These votes will be instrumental in determining the coveted trophy for the winning dish of the year 2023, as decided by a specialized jury.
Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez extended an enthusiastic invitation to the residents and guests of Tenerife, encouraging them to actively participate in this initiative. He emphasized that the event serves as a valuable boost for local businesses and restaurants, emphasizing the importance of community engagement.
The grand award ceremony is scheduled for the 5th of November at the Mercadillo del Nordeste, in Tejina’s church square. The awards presentation, which will take place from 09:00 to 14:00 hours, will symbolically celebrate the tradition of Tejina’s goat meat and the preparation of goat soup in Güímar. The prize for the winning tapa will include a voucher redeemable at various butcher shops in the village, adding an exciting incentive to this already delectable event.
