Canary Islands set to experience another increase in temperatures

Maximum temperatures could reach 27ºC in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In addition, possible rain is forecast for the western islands.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a weather forecast for Monday in the Canary Islands. Expect high cloudiness and cloudy skies with possible rains in the western islands, particularly in La Palma where the rain may be moderate. Temperatures will slightly rise, and there will be light winds from the south in the eastern islands and from the southwest in the rest of the region.


Moderate winds are anticipated on the southeast and northwest slopes of the western islands, with moderate south-westerly winds on high summits.

Regarding sea conditions, expect west and southwest winds at force 3 or 4, locally reaching 5, and areas of swell. However, it will ease to 2 to 3 with variable force 1 to 3, then increase to south, southeast, and east 2 to 3 in the eastern islands with rough or swell. There will be a north-westerly swell with waves of 2 to 3 meters and some showers.

LANZAROTE: Expect high cloudiness with occasional intervals of low clouds on the western slope and inland. Temperatures will see little change with a slight rise. Light winds will vary in direction, predominantly from the southwest at night and from the southeast during the day. Minimum temperature forecast is 20ºC, and the maximum is 26ºC.

FUERTEVENTURA: Anticipate high cloudiness in general with occasional low cloud intervals in the north and western slopes. Temperatures will see little change. Light winds will come from a variable direction, predominantly southerly. Minimum temperature forecast is 21ºC, and the maximum is 26ºC.

GRAN CANARIA: Generally, expect high cloudiness with intervals of low clouds on the southwest slope and, during the central hours, on the northeast slope, where some weak and scattered precipitation is possible, especially in the midlands. Temperatures will have little change with a slight rise on the peaks and in the midlands. Light winds will predominantly come from the south. On summits, expect light to moderate winds from the southwest. Coastal areas will be predominantly breezy. Minimum temperature forecast is 20ºC, and the maximum is 26ºC.

TENERIFE: Look for high cloudiness with intervals of low clouds, which will become cloudy during the central hours in the northeast. Some weak precipitation is possible, potentially becoming locally moderate at the end of the day. Temperatures will see little change with slight increases. Light winds will predominantly come from the south. On summits, anticipate moderate south-westerly winds. Coastal areas will be predominantly breezy. Minimum temperature forecast is 21ºC, and the maximum is 27ºC.

LA GOMERA: Expect high cloudiness with cloudy intervals, which will turn cloudy in the north toward the end of the day with some light rainfall possible. Temperatures will remain stable or slightly rise. Light south-westerly winds will have intervals of greater intensity on the eastern and north-western slopes during the central hours, shifting to the south later in the day. Coastal areas will be predominantly breezy. Minimum temperature forecast is 22ºC, and the maximum is 28ºC.

LA PALMA: Look for cloudy intervals, turning to cloudy or overcast skies throughout the day. Weak and occasional showers are likely, becoming moderate and locally persistent in the last hours, mainly on the western slope. Temperatures will remain stable or slightly rise. Light to moderate winds from the southwest are expected, with more intensity in the extreme south and northwest toward the end of the day. On high summits, there will be moderate south-westerly winds. Coastal areas on the east and west coasts will be predominantly breezy. Minimum temperature forecast is 19ºC, and the maximum is 28ºC.

EL HIERRO: Anticipate high cloudiness with some low cloud intervals, which will increase to cloudy skies from early in the morning. Scattered and occasional showers are likely during the day, potentially becoming locally moderate, mainly on the southwest slope, where they could be in the form of showers. Temperatures will remain stable or rise slightly. Light winds from the southwest will have intervals of greater intensity in the extreme west and southeast slope in the second half of the day. Minimum temperature forecast is 17ºC, and the maximum is 24ºC.
