The Real Casino de Tenerife kicks off a musical event with a viola and piano performance

The 57th Music Week at the Tenerife capital's institution features a series of six concerts showcasing chamber groups and vocalists, taking place from November 9th to 30th.

The LVII Music Week at the Real Casino de Tenerife, located at Plaza de la Candelaria in the capital of Tenerife, is set to kick off on Thursday, November 9th. This exciting musical program spans six concerts until the 30th of November, all scheduled to start at 19:30. The focus of these concerts will once again revolve around vocalists and chamber music groups.


The opening performance will be delivered by the ensemble “Viola de Ensueño.” Comprising violists Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Ting-Ru Lai, Macarena Pesutic, Timothy Ridout, along with pianists Minze Kim and Javier Lanis, the ensemble will present a repertoire featuring compositions by Garth Knox, Ferdinand Ridout, Dmitri Shostakovich, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Reinhold Gliere.

On Monday, the 13th, Tenerife tenor Besay Pérez, accompanied by pianist Diego Expósito, will grace the stage with a program of songs that includes iconic titles such as Alfonsina y el mar, Ay, Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Serenata andaluza, O sole mio, Amapola, and Granada.

Reaching the halfway point on Monday, November 20th, the LVII Music Week will feature the Novae Youth Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Roxana Schmunk. This vocal ensemble will present “Notas y Letras,” a unique concert that combines music and literature through a captivating journey featuring texts and musical compositions inspired by Canarian, Spanish, and global literary figures. Authors such as Federico García Lorca, Pedro García Cabrera, Rafael Arozarena, Rafael Alberti, Elsa López, Octavio Paz, Bob Dylan, and Sara Teasdale will be showcased.

Tenerife soprano Raquel Lojendio, accompanied by pianist Conchi Reyes, will close the musical event.

On November 23rd, the Fuchs Trio, comprising violinist Assumpta Pons, violist Rocío Gómez, and pianist Carlos Domínguez, will enchant the audience with compositions by Rebecca Clarke, Ignaz Lachner, and Robert Fuchs. Tenerife tenor Néstor Galván will deliver a recital on the 28th, featuring works by Falla, Tosti, Tchaikovsky, Respighi, Falvo, Curtis, Ginastera, Soutullo, and Vert.

The grand finale of the musical cycle, taking place on the 30th, will be a tribute to Maria Callas and Victoria de los Ángeles. Soprano Raquel Lojendio and pianist Conchi Reyes, both hailing from Tenerife, will present a recital that includes arias by Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Catalani, Puccini, and Francesco Cilea.
