These weather alerts continue today across the Canary Islands

The weather conditions in the Canary Islands will gradually become less unstable.

While the atmospheric instability in the Canary Islands is diminishing, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is still issuing a yellow alert for today due to coastal phenomena and also for intense wind gusts affecting the eastern and northwestern areas and peaks of La Gomera, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote.

Rainfall is expected to be light and isolated, primarily over Tenerife and La Palma, and mainly during the morning. Sea conditions are rough, and caution is advised when near the coast or considering sea bathing.

Per Aemet’s latest nighttime update, no alerts are anticipated for the following day, although strong northeastern winds will persist on the southeast and northwest slopes.

Cloud cover will be widespread, with low chances of rain in the midlands. Temperatures are set to rise slightly, especially at higher elevations.

The most noteworthy event of the previous day was the wind, with gusts hitting 93 km/h in Vallehermoso (La Gomera) and 84 km/h on the slopes of Mount Teide in Izaña. The municipalities of El Pinar (La Gomera) and Tenerife Sur Airport also experienced strong winds.

These weather alerts continue today across the Canary Islands.

Rainfall has decreased over the last 24 hours, but any precipitation is welcomed after prolonged drought and heat, especially in agricultural areas. La Cruz de Tejeda in Gran Canaria saw the highest rainfall yesterday.

The archipelago also recorded the highest temperatures in Spain, with Vallehermoso (La Gomera) reaching 27.3 degrees Celsius, Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) 26.2 degrees, and Adeje (Tenerife) 26 degrees.

Aemet predicts a notable temperature increase on the Peninsula due to southwesterly winds and an approaching front, with nighttime temperatures expected to rise by six to eight degrees. Maximum temperatures will range between 25 to 27 degrees, particularly on the Mediterranean coast and southeastern Peninsula.

Stable weather is forecasted from next Friday and over the weekend, with rainfall confined to the northwest of the Peninsula. Temperatures will tend to increase, although some light frost is possible in mountainous and plateau areas.
