Canary Islands weather update: expecting a surge in temperatures

Some of the Canary Islands may experience temperatures as high as 34 degrees Celsius.

The weather forecast for the Canary Islands today indicates that it will be partially cloudy or mostly clear, with some high cloud cover and occasional low clouds in the northern regions of the islands during the morning. Additionally, there will be a light haze at high altitudes.


Temperatures are expected to rise moderately, with the highest temperatures occurring in the northern areas of the islands. In particular, temperatures in the south and west of the islands, especially in Tenerife, may reach 30-32 degrees Celsius.

On the coasts, a moderate to light northeasterly wind is anticipated, with prevailing breezy conditions. In the midlands and higher elevations, there will be a moderate wind, primarily from the east in the first half of the day and shifting to the southeast in the afternoon, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

In Gran Canaria, the weather will be clear with occasional high cloud cover and a slight presence of haze at higher altitudes, potentially affecting the summits.

For Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the forecast includes mostly clear skies, with occasional high cloud cover later in the day and a slight presence of haze at altitude, as noted by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Temperatures are expected to rise moderately, with the lowest temperatures in the southern midlands and the highest in the northern midlands. In the southern and western midlands, temperatures may locally reach 30-32ºC, with the possibility of reaching 34ºC. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, maximum temperatures will range between 27ºC and 21ºC.

Regarding the wind, it will be light from the northeast along the coast, with breezy conditions prevailing. In the midlands and higher elevations, moderate easterly and south-easterly winds are expected.
