In December, both of Tenerife’s airports achieved remarkable milestones, solidifying the island’s continuous growth in 2023. Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport celebrated a record of six million passengers, while Tenerife Sur Airport reached an unprecedented 12 million passengers for the first time in its history over the course of the year.
To commemorate this significant achievement, the airport director personally welcomed the six millionth passenger, who had arrived on a Binter flight from La Palma. As a token of appreciation, the passenger received two tickets to the Nivaria VIP lounge. Additionally, Binter, the airline responsible for the flight, generously awarded her a free flight ticket for herself and a companion to any destination served by the airline.

During the month of November, the airport facility recorded 492,084 passengers, and year-to-date figures have shown an impressive growth of over 10.5% compared to 2022.
This season, the airport offers connections to 23 destinations, primarily domestic, through eight different airlines.
On the other hand, Tenerife South Airport celebrated the remarkable achievement of welcoming 12 million passengers, an event that was celebrated with the participation of all airport staff.
In November alone, the airport served 1,177,497 passengers. From January to the end of November, the total number of passengers reached 11,118,233, marking a remarkable increase of 14.3% compared to the same period in 2022. At present, Tenerife South Airport is home to 47 airlines offering flights to 113 destinations in 26 countries.

In a broader context, Spanish airports within the AENA network achieved an all-time record for November, with traffic exceeding 19.7 million passengers. This figure represents a remarkable 12.1% increase compared to November 2022 and a notable 7.6% increase compared to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019. Over the period from January to November, Spanish airports collectively served more than 263 million passengers, signifying a substantial 16.5% increase from the previous year and a 2.3% surge over 2019 levels.
Among Spanish airports, Madrid-Barajas maintained its position as the busiest, serving 4,841,970 passengers in November. It was followed closely by Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which served 3,831,469 passengers (+18.1%). Other notable airports include Malaga, with 1,474,163 passengers (+22.6%); Gran Canaria, with 1,260,578 passengers (+5.2%); Tenerife Sur, with 1,177,497 passengers; and Palma de Mallorca.
