The weather front linked to storm Gerrit, named by the UK’s MetOffice, is set to bring precipitation to the northwest of the peninsula, primarily affecting Galicia and to a lesser extent Asturias and Castilla y León throughout the day, as per the State Meteorological Agency.
Regarding the Canary Islands, and noting that forecasts may shift in the coming days, there’s a slight chance of light rainfall starting from 31 December, as stated by Aemet’s spokesperson for the archipelago, Víctor Quintero.
Quintero further clarifies that the Islands would likely experience the tail end of storm Gerrit, mentioning the possibility of heavier rainfall in the morning of 1 January, which is expected to persist until 3 January 2024.
The Aemet’s New Year’s Eve forecast for the Canary Islands anticipates stable temperatures relative to the preceding days, with lows around 17ºC and highs reaching up to 24ºC.
