Los Realejos is set to make a return to the annual calendar of romerías (pilgrimages) in the Canary Islands with its commemoration in honour of San Antonio Abad, an event scheduled for this Sunday, January 14th. The festivities will kick off with a celebratory Eucharist at 13:00 hours in the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de La Concepción, featuring choral performances by the Agrupación Folclórica Guayacsanta.
An hour later, the romería will commence, with folk groups and impromptu parrandas providing the musical backdrop. The image of the saint will be accompanied by carts and ornately adorned pivas, creating an intimate connection with the rich popular culture of the Canary Islands. The event will also showcase delectable gastronomy and wines from the region.

As is tradition, at the conclusion of the pilgrimage route, there will be a blessing of livestock and other animals. Later in the day, around 17:00, the Arguayo Band orchestra will entertain the crowd with a popular dance performance on Calle Tigotán.
On the preceding day, Saturday, locals will assemble the customary arch made of heather, fruit, and vegetables at the entrance to the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de La Concepción, setting the stage for the upcoming festivities.
