Rain expected in the Canary Islands at the weekend’s start

The maximum temperatures are set to decrease across all the islands.

Today’s weather forecast for the Canary Islands indicates light and sporadic showers, which could intensify during the early morning hours, particularly in the northern regions of the Islands. Cloudy intervals are expected to develop into more overcast conditions by the afternoon, especially on the southern slopes, with a slight chance of light rain, as per the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).


Temperatures are anticipated to drop marginally, with highs reaching up to 22 degrees Celsius in La Gomera and lows around 13 degrees Celsius in El Hierro.

Moderate winds from the northwest, shifting to the northeast during the day, are forecasted. There’s a possibility of local, occasionally intense gusts on the peaks and higher areas of the western and southeastern slopes in the first half of the day.

In the northern part of Gran Canaria, expect cloudy skies with a chance of light, intermittent showers, clearing on the coasts from midday. The rest of the island will generally see cloudy skies with occasional breaks. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will experience partly cloudy conditions with intermittent cloudy intervals, more pronounced during the early morning on the northwest slope.

Maximum temperatures in the northern half of the islands will experience a slight to moderate decrease, while other areas will see little change. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, expect maximum temperatures to range between 23ºC and a minimum of 18ºC.

Winds will be moderate from the northwest, turning northeast during the central hours, with potential for local and occasionally very strong gusts on the western and eastern slopes during the first half of the day.
