Weather outlook for the Canary Islands: gusty winds, rain, and cloudy skies

The weather forecast for the Canary Islands on Saturday, January 20th.

Today’s weather forecast indicates varying conditions across the Canary Islands: in the north and northeast regions, we can expect overcast skies with occasional weak showers. These showers are likely to be scattered in nature. As the day progresses, there’s a tendency for the skies to clear along the coasts.


In the rest of the islands, particularly in the south and southwest areas, we’ll experience a mix of cloudy intervals. By midday, these intervals are expected to thicken, and there’s a possibility of isolated precipitation in the afternoon, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Temperature-wise, the day will see little change, with the mercury ranging from a maximum of 23 degrees Celsius in Tenerife to a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius on the island of El Hierro.

The wind will blow moderately from the northeast, with some intervals of greater intensity, especially in the summit regions and at the southeast and west extremes.

Specifically for Gran Canaria, in the north, cloudy skies will persist with the chance of isolated, weak showers, gradually clearing along the coasts in the afternoon. In the rest of the island, we can expect partly cloudy to clear skies, with cloudy intervals in the southwest during the afternoon.

Moving on to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, there will be a predominance of cloudy intervals, particularly concentrated during the central hours of the day, as reported by Aemet.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range from a maximum of 23°C to a minimum of 18°C.

As for the wind, it will remain moderate from the northeast, with intermittent stronger gusts expected, especially along the southeast and northwest slopes.
