Today, Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife inaugurates its 2024 season with the premiere of the circus show ‘Desprovisto’ at 20:00. This modern circus spectacle is designed to engage audiences both in its form and content, showcasing a troupe of performers who distinguish themselves as unique individuals rather than a faceless ensemble.
Their performance language includes acrobatics, human pyramids, and flips, all characterized by a high level of technical skill. The show is notable for its acrobatic prowess, the absence of character roles for its performers, and a central theme that drives the narrative.
‘Desprovisto’ aims to strip away superficiality, biases, and societal roles, presenting performers in their most authentic and vulnerable state, and highlighting the importance of solidarity in times of uncertainty or peril. It is a celebration of adaptability, resilience, and the idea that change is not only possible but desirable, delivered with a blend of risk-taking and humor.
UpArte, the contemporary circus group behind ‘Desprovisto’, was established in Murcia in late 2012. With a repertoire of three shows and accolades including the Gran Gala Eucima in Madrid, Gala Trapezi in Reus, and the Azahar Awards in Murcia, they have performed extensively across Spain, France, Italy, England, and Morocco. With over 250 performances to their name, UpArte is renowned for its sophisticated acrobatic techniques and compelling stage presence, which effortlessly resonates with audiences.
