This Sunday, the Canary Islands are set to enjoy predominantly clear skies, though the western islands might experience intervals of high and medium clouds. There’s a slight chance of weak and isolated rainfall during the first half of the day in these areas, along with the presence of calima.
In Spain overall, anticyclonic conditions will dominate the day on Sunday, 28 January. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts largely clear skies with high clouds and no significant precipitation, except for fog in some regions of the northern plateau.
Valladolid and Zamora face a yellow alert for fog, with visibility down to 100 metres, due to expected low morning cloudiness in the southwest Mediterranean area of the peninsula, particularly over the northern plateau and the Ebro basin, which may lead to morning mist and fog, possibly lingering in the northern plateau.

Looking ahead to Monday, the approach of an Atlantic front will bring increasing medium and high cloud cover across the west of the peninsula. In the Canary Islands, a front approaching the western half of the archipelago is anticipated, bringing cloudy intervals and a chance of some light precipitation, while the eastern half is expected to remain mostly clear. Calima is also forecasted to continue.
Temperature-wise, maximum temperatures are set to drop, except in the Cantabrian Sea, the central northern plateau, and the north-eastern depressions where they may rise. Minimum temperatures will increase around the Cantabrian Sea and decrease slightly in the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula. In the Canary Islands, little change is expected, with frost likely only in the Pyrenees.
Wind conditions will feature southerly winds in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, with strong intervals on Galicia’s west coast, where A Coruña will be at risk due to swell. Easterly winds are expected in the Mediterranean area, with moderate winds in the Strait. In the Canary Islands, winds will be variable or south-easterly, and generally light and variable in other regions.
