Calima intensifies in the Canary Islands today: suspended dust persists

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the calima in the Canary Islands is set to persist and will continue for the next few days.

The Canary Islands are continuing to experience calima and this condition is expected to persist for the next few days. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the weather forecast for today in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife suggests clear skies with occasional high clouds, along with the ongoing presence of calima.


Temperature levels will remain relatively stable. In Tenerife, the maximum temperature is predicted to reach around 25 degrees Celsius, while the minimum on the island of El Hierro is expected to be about 15 degrees Celsius.

The wind in this region is set to blow moderately from the southeast, with some stronger gusts occurring in the northeast and west extremes during midday.

In Gran Canaria, the day will be marked by clear skies interspersed with occasional high clouds, and the presence of calima as well. Similar conditions are forecast for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with generally clear skies accompanied by calima.

There will be a slight decrease in maximum temperatures, while minimum temperatures are anticipated to remain fairly constant. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the maximum temperature is expected to vary between 25ºC and 18ºC.

Regarding the wind, it will predominantly be moderate coming from the southeast, with periods of stronger winds on the northeast and southwest slopes.
