The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival concludes with the Piñata weekend festivities, organized by the city’s Town Hall through the Autonomous Body for Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR). The events, spanning from Friday afternoon to Sunday night, promise a rich and diverse schedule.
Piñata Carnival Friday Highlights:
- The Children’s Coso parade kicks off at 18:00 from the intersection of Numancia and Méndez Núñez, moving towards Villalba Hervás Street, featuring carnival groups, award-winning costumes, and school bands.
- Dragnaval, starting at 21:00 at Plaza de La Candelaria, aims to celebrate LGTBIQ+ culture with performances scheduled until the early morning hours, including Saoco Orchestra at 23:30, Tony Tun Tun at 1:45, and The Boys Machine at 4:00.
- Concurrently, Plaza del Príncipe will see performances from Tenerife Orchestra, Clave de Son, and Latin Sound, starting at 23:30, while the Farra Festival takes over Francisco La Roche from 23:30 to 5:00.
Piñata Saturday Schedule:
- Continuous music from noon to 21:00 at Plaza de La Candelaria, featuring Carnaboom Latino and other bands, with international stars Luis Fonsi and Joseph Fonseca performing at Francisco La Roche stage at 19:30 and 22:00, respectively.
- Cadena COPE organizes a day-long concert series at Plaza del Príncipe, with performances by various artists and ending with Tropicana at 4:00.
End of the Festivities on Sunday:
- The Senior Carnival begins at 17:00 at Plaza de La Candelaria, with entertainment provided for around 400 seniors from across the islands, concluding with performances by La Década Prodigiosa and Orquesta Tenerife.
- Traditional concerts by NiFú NiFá and La Zarzuela at Plaza del Príncipe from 11:00 onwards.
- The carnival officially ends at 18:00 with the announcement of the next festival’s theme and a fireworks display at Plaza de España.
