The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for coastal conditions affecting several regions in Tenerife and Gran Canaria as of this Thursday morning. The warning, with a likelihood of occurring between 40% and 70%, is scheduled to commence at 20:00 hours on Friday and is anticipated to conclude at 23:59 hours on the same day.
Aemet anticipates north-westerly winds reaching speeds of 50 to 61 kilometres per hour (equivalent to force 7) in the strait separating the islands and in the southeast of Gran Canaria. These conditions are also expected to impact the eastern, southern, and western coastlines of both Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Regarding the weather forecast for this Thursday, predominantly clear skies are expected overall, with the exception of the northern coastal areas, where cloud cover may vary during the early and late hours. A slight increase in temperatures is forecasted, though peak temperatures are set to remain consistent.
Wind conditions will be moderate, originating from the northeast, with bouts of increased intensity expected in the latter part of the day, particularly in the lower elevation regions of the southeast and northwest of the larger islands.
