The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a forecast for rain in the Canary Islands for today, Thursday, 29 February. Additionally, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro will remain under a yellow warning due to strong winds.
The warning, focusing on very strong gusts from the northeast, is expected to impact the summits and southeast and northwest slopes of La Gomera, as well as the area of El Paso on La Palma, during the early and late parts of the day. For El Hierro, these gusts are forecasted to affect the southeast and northwest slopes during the first half of the day.
Regarding rainfall, Aemet’s forecast predicts cloudy or overcast skies in the northern regions of the islands with greater relief. There’s a probability of locally moderate light rain, primarily expected during the second half of the day.
Rain in the Canary Islands
In other areas, cloudy intervals will prevail, with a low chance of occasional drizzle in the easternmost islands during the latter part of the day.
Temperature-wise, little change is expected, with a slight increase in minimum temperatures and a slight decrease in maximum temperatures anticipated in inland areas of the mountainous islands.
