Increased rainfall forecast for the Canary Islands

According to the State Meteorological Agency, Tenerife is expected to have locally intense rain this weekend.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has predicted an increase in rainfall across the Canary Islands over the coming days, according to its latest weather forecasts. This Saturday, Tenerife is specifically forecasted to experience intense heavy showers, attributed to a cold front linked with the Olivia squall.

This weekend’s weather outlook also suggests overcast conditions for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. These islands were recently impacted by Saharan dust, which has since moved northward towards the mainland and southern Europe. This dust event led to a significant temperature increase across the archipelago on Friday. The possibility of light and sporadic rain cannot be dismissed.

More rain expected in the Canary Islands

For the larger islands with more varied terrain, cloudy skies are anticipated to dominate, with a chance of showers along the northern and eastern slopes that may reach moderate intensity.

Regarding temperatures, a slight rise in minimum temperatures is expected, though high areas on La Palma and Tenerife might see moderate decreases. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures are forecasted to drop, particularly noticeable in the interior regions.
