Canary Islands weather update: yellow warnings for winds and cooler temperatures

In its weather forecast for the Canary Islands, the State Meteorological Agency reports strong trade winds in La Gomera and Gran Canaria.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a weather update for the Canary Islands this Monday, anticipating yellow warnings for coastal phenomena in Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The day will feature very strong gusts of wind and a slight decline in temperatures.


Cloudy conditions will prevail in the northern areas of the larger islands, with skies clearing up by the afternoon, while summits and other slopes will remain mostly clear or sunny. Temperature fluctuations will be minimal, with the lows hovering around 19ºC and highs reaching up to 26ºC in the western regions.

Trade winds are expected to be particularly strong, with intervals of intense gusts that could occasionally reach very high speeds, especially on the southeast and northwest slopes of La Gomera and Gran Canaria.
