Not us, but the ‘Guía del Cachopo‘ has unveiled the results of the competition in search of the best cachopo for 2024. The famous Asturian cachopo, a traditional dish from northern Spain, consists of two juicy veal fillets breaded and typically stuffed with cheese and cured ham, then fried in oil at a high temperature. This hearty dish is often served with a side of potatoes and peppers.
The competition, organised by the ‘Guía del Cachopo’, is an annual event that celebrates this iconic dish by identifying the best versions across various regions. It attracts numerous entries from restaurants that put their unique twist on the traditional recipe.
The dish from Taberna Vasca Txupinazo has won the award for the best one in the Canary Islands. This dish features two veal steaks, shoulder ham, truffled cheese, and duck lard in the stuffing, accompanied by breaded potatoes, chips, and peppers as garnish.
However, the ‘Best Cachopo of the World 2024’ title was awarded to the Mas Torres restaurant in Zaragoza. The second prize went to Arrabal in Madrid, and the third place was claimed by La Taska in Valencia. These establishments have been recognised for their exceptional preparation and innovative ingredients, making them stand out in a highly competitive field.
