Weather agency forecasts a rainy Sunday in the Canary Islands

This Sunday, the Canary Islands will see cloudy skies with scattered showers, while Spain faces widespread instability due to a DANA, according to Aemet's latest forecast.

The weather forecast indicates that this Sunday the Canary Islands will experience predominantly cloudy skies with weak, scattered showers, particularly in inland areas facing south and east, where they could become locally moderate during the central hours of the day.

Meanwhile, in Spain, the presence of a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) in the northern half of the peninsula will create instability, leading to storms and putting eleven provinces on yellow alert, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Minimum temperatures will rise in much of the peninsula.

Specifically, the Autonomous Community of Navarre and La Rioja, along with the Catalan provinces of Lleida and Tarragona, the Castilian provinces of Avila, Burgos, Segovia, and Soria, and the Aragonese provinces of Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza, will be at risk.

Northern and Eastern Spain Forecast

Aemet’s forecast indicates persistent instability in the northern half and eastern third of the peninsula, with predominantly cloudy skies or intervals of cloudiness. Scattered rainfall is expected in the early hours in the north, with locally heavy showers possible near the Pyrenees, where there will also be weak frosts.

In the afternoon, heavy cloudiness is expected to develop in large areas of the interior of the peninsula and the Balearic archipelago. Storms will affect the northern half and the eastern third, being more likely and intense in eastern Castilla y León, the Central and Iberian systems, northern Aragon, and western Catalonia.
