International Hamburger Day is celebrated on 28 May, an ideal date to pay tribute to one of the most appreciated dishes in the world. In Tenerife, the range of hamburgers on offer is wide and delicious, from the most classic to the most innovative options.
The IV Campeonato de España de Hamburguesas, which chooses the best burgers in the country, selected eight restaurants on the island to compete for the best burger. Among the proposals, the following recommendations stood out.
1. Epiconic, from Está Rico Burger
A burger worthy of a championship, a balanced burger, but with unique flavours. Composed of 180g of dry aged Galician blonde beef, Morbier cheese, Pink Fancy sauce, caramelised leeks, citrus tamarind glazed guanciale, on a toasted buttered brioche bun.
2. The Cheeky Hamburger, Tenerife Fingers
Every element, from the semi-cured cheddar cheese to the fresh onion, is fused together on a light brioche bun, creating the unparalleled La Cheeky burger experience. The secret lies in the blend of meat, dry-aged for 25-35 days and cooked with the press technique to maintain the redness of the meat.
3. ISI 2.0, 400 Degrees
Potato roll bun, double dry aged beef, crispy caramelised bacon with shichimi, sour cream onion cream by Pringles, smoked provolone and secret Big Isi sauce. This burger mixes Asian touches for an umami taste and a rollercoaster ride on the palate.
4. Enna Burger by Vienna Brewery 30
Immerse yourself in an intriguing contrast of flavours with the ENNA Burger. The 45-day matured picaña offers a unique intensity while the truffled parmesan and pecorino sauce adds a subtle, umami cheese flavour. Sautéed Portobello adds freshness, and crispy, smoky bacon completes the experience.
5. Ibérica, by Hangar Café
The Ibérica is one of Hangar’s first and favourite hamburgers, featuring a 90g double patty smash, 100% Iberian ham, duck foie gras, Manchego cheese, homemade caramelised onion, and truffle mayonnaise.
6. Salmantina, from Madre Mía Médano
A burger in homage to Salamanca and its butchers, consisting of 150g of veal cutlet, smoked bacon sauce, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and maple syrup, all on brioche bread.
7. Golden Burger, by Mostazza Beer
The best hamburger in the Canary Islands according to the IV Campeonato de España de Hamburguesas. Composed of a Potato Rolls brioche bun, 200g of Dry Aged beef (aged 60 days), creamed corn, red cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, house sauce, crispy bacon, pickle jam, and pepperoni topping.
8. Hub Special, from Smash Hub Tenerife
Inspired by Northern Italian gastronomy, this burger combines truffle mayonnaise, caramelised onions, boletus and gorgonzola cream, ultra-crispy smoked bacon, and Angus Aberdeen beef imported from Ireland, dry-aged in a maturation room.
