FTI Touristik halts all operations until July 5 after declaring bankruptcy

FTI Touristik has cancelled all scheduled trips up to July 5 after declaring bankruptcy, affecting all related package tours, individual bookings, and services through its main brand and subsidiaries.

Following its bankruptcy declaration, German tour operator FTI Touristik has announced a comprehensive cancellation of all trips scheduled up to and including July 5. This decision was taken in coordination with Axel Bierbach, the appointed provisional insolvency administrator, and the German Travel Safety Fund (DRSF). The cancellations encompass all package tours, individual bookings, and services booked through FTI, as well as through its associated sales brand 5vorFlug and subsidiary BigXtra.

FTI, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday, has promptly begun the process of informing its customers and business partners about the impacted services. This move affects numerous travelers who had planned vacations and services during this period.

Explaining the decision, Bierbach highlighted the potential risks involved with proceeding as planned. “Given the current uncertainties and the risk factors for travellers in the destination countries, we believe the responsible decision is to cancel all travel plans for the next four weeks. Although a resolution appears feasible, it cannot be implemented in the forthcoming days,” he noted.

FTI and its partners, including the DRSF, are diligently working to find a viable solution for travelers with bookings scheduled from July 6 onward. The objective is to ensure that these customers can still enjoy their planned holidays at the original travel costs, accounting for any advance payments already made.

Bierbach extended his apologies to all affected customers, stating, “We deeply regret the inconvenience this decision may cause and are committed to minimizing its impact as much as possible.” The team’s focus remains on navigating through the insolvency process while safeguarding the interests of its customers and ensuring future travel plans can proceed smoothly.
