Major upgrades planned for Tenerife Norte Airport to enhance passenger experience

AENA has awarded a 3 million euro contract for a significant upgrade to Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, including expanded check-in areas, new boarding and baggage facilities, and improved car parks, set to enhance the overall passenger experience.

AENA has recently announced the award of a contract for the adaptation project at Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, aimed at upgrading and enhancing the efficiency and quality of the airport facilities. The project, valued at 3 million euros with a timeline of 36 months, involves extensive renovations including the expansion of check-in counters and security lines, along with the creation of new boarding and baggage reclaim areas.


Additionally, significant changes are planned for the car parks and surrounding urban landscape, which will also see new equipment and furnishings as part of the improvements. These enhancements are part of the proposed DORA III plan covering 2027 to 2031.

The contract has been awarded to a joint venture comprising Cemosa, Fairbanks Arquitectos SLP, and Intecsa-Inarsa SA. This team brings a wealth of experience from previous projects at major Spanish airports like Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, and Málaga-Costa del Sol, as well as international projects including expansions at airports in Colombia and Peru.

This redevelopment at Tenerife Norte is part of a broader initiative that includes a comprehensive overhaul of the Tenerife Sur airport terminal, reorganisation of car parks, and updates to urban development and landscaping, all slated for inclusion in AENA’s next investment period.
