This interest has grown notably, with a 4% increase in bookings for Japanese cuisine compared to the same period in 2023.
During the initial five months of 2024, the popularity of sushi surged with a 16% increase in searches on TheFork, underscoring its rising appeal among Spanish diners. “Japanese cuisine has firmly established itself as one of the major culinary trends in our country in recent years,” says Sergio Sequeira, Iberia Country Manager at TheFork. He notes the expanded offerings of Japanese restaurants on the platform to cater to this growing demand, fuelled by numerous new establishments across Spain.
