Weather shifts across the Canary Islands: Latest updates from Aemet

The weather agency Aemet reports a mix of clear and cloudy skies across the Canary Islands this Tuesday, with stable temperatures and varied wind conditions.

Today’s weather forecast, Tuesday, 18 June, predicts a day of variable skies across the Canary Islands, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). While most of the archipelago will enjoy clear skies, the northern regions are expected to experience cloudy conditions, which are likely to clear up, becoming partly cloudy or clear as the day progresses.

Temperature-wise, there will be little change. Santa Cruz de Tenerife will see highs reaching up to 26 degrees Celsius, while Santa Cruz de La Palma will experience cooler temperatures with a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius. Overall, temperatures across the islands will remain steady, ensuring a consistent feel to the day’s weather.

The wind will predominantly come from the northeast, blowing at moderate speeds. However, there will be periods of stronger gusts particularly in the extreme southeast and northwest regions of the islands. Additionally, expect lighter breezes along the southwest coasts, contributing to varied wind conditions throughout the area.

In the northern parts of the islands, the morning cloudiness will give way to clearer skies from midday onwards, with further clearing expected into the evening. Elsewhere, the skies will generally be clear throughout the day.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will start the day with generally cloudy skies during the early morning, but this is expected to clear up, leading to partly cloudy or clear conditions as the day unfolds.

Temperature fluctuations will be minimal with slight increases possible in some inland areas. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures are forecasted to range between a maximum of 24ºC and a minimum of 20ºC.

The wind conditions will mirror those of the larger archipelago, with moderate northeastern winds and intervals of stronger gusts in the extreme southeast and west. The higher elevations will experience light and variable winds, which are expected to strengthen and become more northerly towards the evening. Breezes will also be present along the southwest coastlines, adding a refreshing touch to the region’s typical weather pattern.
