Goiko, a well-loved hamburger chain, is preparing to open its second location in Tenerife, reinforcing its commitment to expanding across the Canary Islands. This new restaurant, set to launch at the El Meridiano shopping center in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, positions itself conveniently in the mall’s indoor food court, neighboring Taco Bell.
This opening marks the fifth Goiko establishment in the Canary Islands and builds on the momentum from the first Tenerife restaurant, which opened last year on Bethencourt Alfonso Street to much fanfare and long queues.

The choice of El Meridiano for the new Goiko restaurant underscores the brand’s strategic approach to expansion, selecting high-traffic shopping centers to attract a broad customer base. Goiko’s growth in the Canary Islands began with its initial restaurant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, located on Calle Triana, and has been growing steadily ever since.
Founded in 2013 in Madrid by Venezuelan Andoni Goicoechea, Goiko quickly became renowned for its gourmet burgers. Goicoechea, who moved to Spain due to the difficult circumstances in Venezuela, seized the opportunity to start his business thanks to his Spanish heritage.

His vision has propelled Goiko to significant success in the Spanish market, leading to the acquisition of an 80% stake by the global private equity firm L Catterton, a move facilitated by Arcano Partners, valuing the company at €150 million.
This expansion not only demonstrates Goiko’s popularity but also its strategic initiative to dominate the fast-casual dining space in prominent locations across Spain, making it a formidable player in the restaurant industry.
