This weekend, the Canary Islands are expected to see predominantly cloudy skies in the northern regions with a tendency for cloudy intervals during the midday hours. There’s also a possibility of light and occasional rain during the night in the northern parts of the larger islands.
In contrast, the southern and other areas of the islands will mostly experience partly cloudy to clear skies with occasional cloudiness at night.
Across Spain, the weather situation appears more intense with 17 provinces under rain and storm warnings. Specific regions facing these warnings include Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza in Aragon; several provinces in Castilla y León like Burgos, Palencia, and Valladolid; Cuenca and Guadalajara in Castilla-La Mancha; and parts of Catalonia such as Barcelona, Girona, and Lleida. The Sierra de Madrid and parts of Navarre, along with the Ribera del Ebro in La Rioja, are also affected.

Furthermore, Segovia and Soria in Castile and Leon, along with the Ibérica riojana in La Rioja, will experience significant warnings for rain and thunderstorms. Tarragona in Catalonia is on alert for thunderstorms, and Menorca in the Balearic Islands is warned of the same.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts that the north-central and northeastern parts of the Iberian Peninsula will continue to experience stormy conditions due to an ongoing storm system. Additionally, a new Atlantic disturbance is expected to bring unstable weather across the northern half of the mainland, with cloudy skies and potential showers and thunderstorms that could be intense, particularly in Soria, Guadalajara, and northern areas of the Iberian Peninsula and Tarragona.
The southern half and the Balearic Islands are likely to see cloudy intervals with tendencies to clear up. However, there’s still a chance of rain in the northeast of the southern plateau and the west of Galicia, as well as other regions of the Meseta and the Strait of Gibraltar, though these will likely be lighter and more scattered. Flurries could also occur in Menorca.

Regarding temperatures, there will be a notable drop in maximum temperatures in the north and Balearic Islands, particularly in the northeastern interior and northern plateau areas. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise in the southern and southeastern thirds of the country and in Valencia. Minimum temperatures will generally decrease, except for a slight increase in the Canary Islands. The highest temperatures are expected to be in Castellón de la Plana at 36ºC, followed by Murcia and Valencia at 34ºC, and Alicante at 31ºC.
Lastly, AEMET anticipates possible high-level calima in the eastern third, extreme north, and Balearic Islands, which should lessen over time. Morning mists and fog in mountainous areas are also expected, along with west and north winds in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, and the Ebro area, west and south winds on the Atlantic side and in the Mediterranean area, shifting to northwest in the Ampurdán. The Strait of Gibraltar, Alborán, and inland and pre-coastal areas of Levante are forecast to have westerly winds, while the Canary Islands will experience moderate trade winds.
