The Aemet (Spanish Meteorological Agency) predicts increasing heat across the Canary Islands, with calima and temperatures potentially reaching up to 35°C today, Thursday, 11 July. While the northern lowlands of the islands might see cloudy skies and occasional drizzle, the rest of the areas will experience partly cloudy to clear skies with light calima at higher altitudes.
Temperatures are expected to rise significantly, especially at higher altitudes and on the southern slopes of Tenerife, where they might exceed 35°C. Coastal areas will see minimal change or slight increases in temperature.

The trade winds will blow from the northeast, ranging from moderate to strong with very strong gusts up to 80 km/h affecting the southeast and northwest slopes, as well as the El Paso area. On the summits, there will be moderate northeasterly winds.
In Gran Canaria, the lower northern areas will experience cloudy intervals, especially in the early hours, with possible occasional drizzle; the rest of the island will be mostly clear with light high-altitude calima. Similar conditions are expected for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with cloudy intervals in the north and west, particularly during the early and late hours, and a low chance of drizzle or mist formation.

Temperature changes will be slight on the coasts but more noticeable in inland and high areas, particularly on the southern slopes where temperatures could exceed 32°C and potentially reach or surpass 35°C, with a chance of hitting 37°C at times. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, expect maximum temperatures to range between 21°C and 25°C.
Overall, the wind will be moderate to strong from the northeast, intensifying on the southeast and northwest slopes and the western tip, where gusts could reach 80 km/h, while moderate northeasterly winds will prevail on the summits.
