The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts a mixed weather pattern for the Canary Islands this Friday, 12 July, featuring heat, rain, haze, and strong winds. The forecast indicates cloudy intervals especially in the lower northern areas, with clearer skies elsewhere, except for cloudy patches in the west and occasional drizzle in the northeast, particularly during the early and late hours. Additionally, light haze is expected at higher altitudes.
Temperatures are set to rise across the islands, with highs reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius in Tenerife and lows around 20 degrees Celsius on El Hierro. The wind will be moderate from the northeast, interspersed with strong to very strong gusts reaching up to 80 km/h on the southeast and northwest slopes, particularly in the afternoon, although it will diminish and become variable in direction on the summits later in the day.

In Gran Canaria, the morning will feature predominantly cloudy skies in the northern lowlands, clearing as the day progresses. Similar conditions are forecast for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with generally clear skies except for some cloudy intervals on the western slopes in the morning and light haze at higher elevations.
Temperature variations will be minimal in lower areas but will rise slightly in the midlands and peaks. In the interior of the southern slopes, temperatures are likely to exceed 32ºC and could potentially reach or even surpass 35ºC, with some areas seeing up to 37ºC. Minimum temperatures in these areas could go as low as 25ºC. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the maximum temperatures will fluctuate between 21ºC and 25ºC.

The winds will continue to be a significant factor, blowing moderately to strongly from the northeast, particularly intense on the southeast and northwest slopes and the western tip, where gusts could peak at 80 km/h. The summits will experience lighter to moderate winds.
