Tenerife South Airport has been recognized as one of the top airports globally in the AirHelp Score 2024 rankings, achieving an impressive average score of 7.24. This detailed evaluation, which includes data from approximately 240 airports across 70 countries, has been conducted annually by AirHelp, the largest passenger rights technology company in the world, since 2015.
For this year’s ranking, 58 new airports were added, among which Tenerife South Airport made its debut, ranking 189th internationally. The airport earned this score by achieving a 7.1 in flight punctuality, 7.7 in passenger satisfaction, and 7.1 for the variety and quality of its restaurant and shop offerings.

Other Spanish airports also featured prominently in the AirHelp Score 2024. Bilbao Airport led the national list, ranking 29th globally and third among European airports with an overall score of 8.03, attributed to its high marks in punctuality, customer service, and leisure amenities.
Following closely, Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport ranked 50th worldwide with a score of 7.92, and Ibiza Airport stood at 78th globally, scoring 7.77. Barcelona Airport was listed as the fourth best in Spain and 89th globally with a score of 7.73, while Seville Airport followed as the fifth, ranking 98th worldwide.

The AirHelp Score also included Valencia Airport, ranking it sixth in Spain and 103rd globally with a score of 7.67. Palma de Mallorca Airport, known for being the third busiest in Spain, ranked 122nd internationally with a score of 7.57. Additionally, Alicante and Malaga airports ranked eighth and ninth in Spain, positioned at 148th and 179th globally, respectively.
The methodology behind the AirHelp Score considers several key factors: 60% for punctuality, 20% for customer feedback, and 20% for the quality of catering and shopping facilities. This comprehensive data is gathered from AirHelp’s own monitoring platform, which surveys over 4,000 airports worldwide, alongside feedback from 17,000 passengers from more than 60 countries, covering airport performances from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

While the report highlights the need for improvement in European airports, which often face challenges in managing flight delays within 15 minutes, airports in Brazil and Japan excel by ensuring over 80% of their flights depart exactly on time, significantly influencing their high scores in the 2024 rankings.
